Celebration of the 67th National Democracy Day

 

           This Embassy organized a special program to celebrate the 67th National Democracy Day on 7th Fagun 2073 (18 February 2017). H.E. Ambassador Mrs. Ambika Devi Luintel shed light on the National Democracy Day and the struggles and sacrifices of Nepali people to establish and restore democratic system in the country since 1950. She mentioned about the new Constitution of Nepal promulgated on 20 September 2015 and said that it would guarantee the fundamental human rights and freedoms of Nepali citizens.
One minute silence was observed paying tribute in memory of all known and unknown martyrs who sacrificed their lives for democracy in the country. All participants paid their tributes and expressed greetings on the occasion.

Nepali nationals living in Paris city and its surroundings, office bearers of the Nepali community organizations, senior official of UNESCO participated in the program. The delegation of Nepal coming from Kathmandu to attend the annual general assembly meeting of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) being held in Paris from 18 February and the Embassy's officials and their families were also present on the occasion.

 On the occasion, the Nepali community members also interacted with the delegation from Nepal regarding the current situation and Economic Policy in the country.
